French Baroque Instrumental Concert in Missoula

  • St. Francis Xavier 420 West Pine Street Missoula, MT, 59802 United States (map)

Back at Versailles

This concert presents a potpourri of some of the luscious, elegant, totally charming French music spanning the fluorescence of France's unique Baroque style from Marin Marais and Jean Baptiste Lully through François Couperin and Jean Féry Rebel. It will also include Telemann's lovely Paris Quartet in e minor, a tribute to the musical taste and sophistication still found in Paris years later. Minneapolis' multi-instrumentalist Ginna Watson, baroque violin and Twin Cities Early Music Festival director Donald Livingston, harpsichord will head the ensemble. Ginna's daughter, Cella Westray, will complete the continuo section playing viola da gamba. Seattle-based Joshua Romatowski, who represents a new generation of Baroque flute virtuosi brings his stylish and tasteful playing. Bitterroot locals Kelaiah Horat, violin and Alex Shaffer, flute and recorder, round out the ensemble for deeper texture and creative orchestration.
