Montana Cantata Project

Music of J.S. Bach

Bitterroot Baroque presents the Montana Cantata Project, a period instrument workshop culminating with a evening concert highlighting the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Leadership within the workshop is drawn from the fantastic Carrie Krause, concertmaster, Curtis Foster, baroque oboe and Tim Westerhaus, tenor. Together, they will direct instrument specific seminars and ensemble rehearsals, creating a period instrument orchestra composed of selected local Montana musicians. A highlight of the weekend will be the public premiere of Bitterroot Baroque's newly commissioned portative organ, purchased in part through the generosity of the Rapp Family Foundation.

The final concert will feature two Bach cantatas and the Bach double concerto for oboe and violin. The Montana Cantata Project Workshop will start April 20 and the performance will take place at St. Paul’s on Sunday evening April 22 at 7:30 pm.
