Program
If anyone knows about being a dad, it's Johann Sebastian Bach. He had twenty children with ten surviving into adulthood; seven with his first wife, Maria Barbara Bach, and thirteen with Anna Magdalena Wilcke. This father's day, Repast Baroque reunites with the Bitterroot Baroque Orchestra for a concert featuring the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons as well as a few other members of their extended family.
During his lifetime, J.S. Bach's sons were more famous than their father; Johann Sebastian's oldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, was a genius of improvisation and worked in Dresden, the "Berlin Bach," Carl Philipp Emanuel, was in service at the court of Frederick the Great, and Johann Christian Bach, the "London Bach" was music master to Queen Charlotte. Bitterroot Baroque's Father's Day program includes some of J.S. Bach's most beloved Brandenburg concertos alongside other family favorites.
